Gain quick access to your favorite online services with the new Accelerators feature in Windows Internet Explorer 8. Things you do everyday on the web like e-mailing, searching, shopping or finding directions are now just a click away.
When you highlight text on a page, you’ll see the Accelerators icon. Clicking this icon reveals a list of popular accelerators, giving you quick access to common web services.
Let’s say you want to find out where a restaurant is, simply select the address. Click the Accelerator icon then pause on map with Live Maps. A preview map then appears, showing the restaurant’s location. You’ll need to copy and paste the address in your mapping site. Clicking the map link opens a new tab with a full view of the map.
Other Accelerators lets you accomplish other everyday actions like online searches, sending selected text in an e-mail message or posting text in a blog entry. You can even translate text to another language without leaving the page.
You can choose for more web services by pausing on more Accelerators. If you can’t find your favorite service, just choose Find More Accelerators then select the Accelerator you want to add. Now the new Accelerator will always be available no matter what website you’re on.
We have a range of great partners who are building their own Accelerators. So check your favorite sites to see if they have added Accelerators for Internet Explorer 8. To choose which Accelerators you use most often or to add or remove one, pause on More Accelerators, and then select Manage Accelerators. Here, you can set your Default Accelerators or disable or delete them. By helping you easily access your favorite web services without extra copying and pasting, Accelerators can make all your favorite web activities faster and easier.
To speed up your web browsing with Accelerators, download Internet Explorer 8 and start putting the web at your service today.
