My name is Somer Al-Kassar and I’m the chef owner of Stovetop Solutions which is a personal chef service here in Kansas, Georgia. I’m here today to demonstrate bodum products, we have both a coffee press and tea infuser and what we’re going to demonstrate right now is the tea infuser and we have several selections of teas. We have an almond oolong tea a Nilgiri tea which is a black tea and we also have a green tea that’s a gun powder tea. And the reason it’s called the gun powder is if you sieve the tea leaf, it’s actually tightly woven so they look like an old fashion gun pallet. And what you’re looking for this is you’re looking for a shinier tea, the shinier the tea, the fresher it is so what we’re going to start with is going to actually do the green tea and what you’ll need to do with your tea infuser. You actually have three parts, you have the lid, the diffuser and the actual tea kettle and what you want to do is you will want to put your green tea in here and all you need is a couple of tablespoons of this and steep it in hot water.
So go ahead and pour your tea into your diffuser and I only use probably two tablespoons of this. And what you want to do is you want some hot water on the side, there’s actually this bottom tea kettle, it keeps the water warm. We’ll go ahead and pour this in here and you’ll see as the hot water hits the tea you will see that the tea will bloom, it will unwrap from the tightly woven pallets to regular tea leaves. Once you have your hot water in here what you want to do is go ahead and put the lid on to keep the aromas in and this will steep for about three to five minutes depending on how strong of the tea you’d like and what we’ll do is we’ll wait for about three minutes and our tea will be ready.
Okay, it’s been about three minutes and our tea has been steeping and it’s ready. What you want to do is as soon as your tea is ready it gets to the color that you would like for it to be, obviously the longer it steeps the darker your tea will be. But as soon as you’re done, what you want to do is go ahead and pull out your tea leaves because the longer they sit in or if you just leave them in there it will make your tea bitter. So go ahead and take that out and then you’re ready. You can actually smell the aroma of the tea and tea connoisseurs will actually classify a tea by the aroma whether it’s fruity.
We have teas with rose buds or you can actually have them with different types of floral enhancements. But, we’ll go ahead and pour this. Now another thing they will judge a tea on this is actually the after taste or the taste of tea and that’s actually called the melonyi of the tea. In here you will see we’ll have a green tea so it will be lighter in color than your typical black tea and a green tea doesn’t have the amount of caffeine that your regular black tea will have, so if you’re caffeine conscious this is definitely the tea that you will want to try.
