What do you guys use to edit your photos or your images? What do you use to touch them up? What do you use to just make them better than the way they are right now? tweaking old photos, tweaking newer photos, what do you use? What software? I have been using a variety of software over the years. I started really, first photo editing software I used was not Photoshop but Paint Shop Pro and then over the years it got kind of progressively worst, it was then purchased by Corel and it is not really improved any, then I just stopped using it, I started using photo filter, there is a free in a premium version available. On Macro S10, I have been using pixel meter for the most part but I am still kind of getting used to the new access but it is really good.
For digital photos though, for the most part if I wanted to edit a digital photo, I will either upload it to my flicker account and use the picnic tool, it is amazing, it is extensive, you can undo, it is really good. So, another reason to love flicker is because of that tool. You can edit a photo online. It is all the powerful photo-editing tool are right there. I have also started using Aperture 2.0 on OS 10 and that is nice.
Picasa makes a great digital photo tweaker, not necessarily editor, but Picasa on both Linux and Windows are pretty soon they are going to be releasing one for Macro S10. And, there is a lot of ways you can edit your photos not just Photoshop, in fact if you wanted to go to the Photoshop line, I would have recommended possibly like a Photoshop element. These are older versions I do not have the latest version, they just kind of released them I just do not have them. Do not know much people at Adobe, unfortunately. I use their stuff all the time. There is also now Photoshop Express which is on the web so you can edit your photos on the web again through Adobe.
There are other places you can edit photos on the web too, the web is right there. I like the one that comes with a flicker though because I have a flicker account already that is why I upload on my most if not all my photos. Told you, software is moving in the web. Great photo editing on the web. Nothing to install, just right there ease of use men. And, it comes with the flicker account so when you have that I am happy. I am happy, I am happy.
But Mosheer, same guy who sent us the Indian food list has been using Photoshop itself for several years; he wanted to pass along some Photoshop tips for everybody. Everyone, when using Photoshop for the first time, see what is everything does from the tools to little buttons, not only will it make you move around faster in Photoshop but also makes you experiment a lot more.
It is kind of true. I would recommend this for anybody in any program. The last thing you want to do is use your program and get frustrated with it because it is not doing what you wanted to do. Well, have you figure out what it can do? In many cases I will talk to someone who will say “Well, did you not know you could do x, y, and z?” and they are like “no” I am like “dude it is right there on the menu”. It is not hidden or anything. That is all it takes is a friend to kind of remind you to explore a little, you will never know what you are going to find. And you got the program anywhere. 2. Always use layers, layers are one of the most important things you have to remember when you are using Photoshop.
It is very frustrating when you draw something really amazing and let us say it is on black background. But when you want to change the color background, you notice the drawing on the background is on the same layer. So, you change the background color and the drawing gets messed up. Remember that using too many layers can also get you confused.
Think of layers as separate pieces of the puzzle if you will. Even though, the screen right now is two dimensional. Layers allow you to edit pieces of an image independent upon another. So, here is my background and I can change this color at any point and that it is not going to touch my foreground and then I can go even deeper and I am going to add more layers and I can have a million to one different layers of course that is probably a theoretical number. And then when I am done tweaking, because I can tweak this independently and do this over here and I can move this over here and arrange that and send it to the top or send it to the bottom. I can arrange all this layers in various orders but when I do say that it will flatten the image instead of one because you cannot have multiple layers within like a jpeg. You can have multiple layers when it is in like a Photoshop file though.
