All right I’ve sewn my tape to my drapery heading and I’ll flip it over here you won’t be able to see too much but you can see the stitching lines here, and if you use a thread that matches your fabric that would be even less noticeable. Actually, use a little bit of lighter threads so you can actually see the stitching lines. So that’s the front. And now it’s time to pull those cords and create the pleat. So here’s our knotted end, we’re going to go over to the loose end here and I’m going to grab this loose cords that we loosened up earlier and we’re going to take this and pull them.
Well, what I like to do is I have to take my loose cords and knot them together. This gives me a little bit of gripping room so I pulled the cords evenly. And as you pull the cords, you’re going to slide the tape down the heading here. You’re going to slide so it feels like you’re actually sliding the fabric down the cords. And I’m trying to keep this in the camera view as I do it. This tape is stitched really well so the cords are a little bit tougher to pull but you know still easy to pull, you’re just going to get the feel for it, okay? So you’re going to actually inspect with the same view here as I pull it down.
Now, I see how it comes, it slides while I’m pulling out to the cords on one end and I’m pulling all the way down and my goal is to get this last piece here pleated first. So I’m going to keep pulling out the extra cord here and move my hand and slide everything down until this area here is pleated in between just like that, okay? Now the space in between the next pleat should be flat so you want to adjust it a little bit there, okay? So you have this short piece, you have a flat piece here and then this next piece will be pulled to being gathered.
I’m going to pull this down over the top until you get here and then you move on to the next piece here. So I’m going to work my way all the way down and then I’ll show you how it looks when I’m all done. I’ve finished pulling my cords and pleating my tape and at the end here you’ll have all this extra cord. So what you’ll do is you’ll tie your cords in a knot close to the tape to keep the cords undoing themselves. Tie knot there to secure it and then you’ll just neatly wrap up the cords around your finger here if you want nice and neatly and what I like to do is just take a small safety pin and I’ll secure this round up cord right here on the tape. So it’s not really seen from any angle. This is the very normal thing to do. The reason that you keep the extra cord is in the event that you to take your drapes down and have them cleaned you’ll probably want to undo the shearing so that the panel lays flat to have it cleaned and that’s why you will keep your extra cord. Now let me go ahead and move the camera so that you can see the whole panel in its pleated state.
