I’m going to show you how to use a planer. Now these come with extremely sharp blade so you have to be careful with this. And remember, wear a safety mask and safety goggles always. Now these come with indicators or depth settings. You see they’re numbered here. So you select the number you want which will indicate how deep or how much of the wood you want to actually take off. We’ll start with a lower setting, number 1 and it also came with a safety lever as most tools now they should do. Press that red lever in before you can press the main lever here at the bottom. This is to stop you having any accidents in case you were to put this on accidentally.
Okay, the trick is to start your planer before it actually reaches the wood. Because if you didn’t do that, if you started the motor and just put it on the piece of wood, it will slide off and it wouldn’t be very stable, it wouldn’t be very safe. So always remember, start the motor first, take it to the end of the piece of wood you want to plane and then start planing and keep the plane flat on the surface. Here we go.
Remember, when not in use always switch off even for just a few seconds necause you don’t want anybody coming back to touch this and then there you’ll have an accident on your hands. Okay, stay safe.
