I could see you, but you could not see me, because this is a burlap, backdrop, and unhidden between two pieces. Now let me show you. I put it on a mop handle. You can see that mop handle? That is long enough though because I do not want to get hit over the head or like I bent done many times before in another puppet theater and then I have two behind me. I have to darken the theater so that you do not have shadows. Okay, I got pen colors, and I have got kind of greenish burlap and I have this puppet. I just jumped myself at the pin because I am also in too much of a hurry to saw, so I pin and I pinned this left over the backdrop.
Now, I could have done the same thing and had two. You can pin this up and pull that over to use whichever color you want. So, you got two selections there and I can put another, I want to get a black backdrop out of burlap and put it on the blue. All right, when I am sitting back here then, I am sitting on a stool that I want to show you. It is a little short stool, I have to get that at Myers and you could sit on a chair. And then the puppets because I have got big puppets, I can now sit on the taller stool and I got that there too. It will not cost very much, very cheap, I have two because it is easier.
The nice thing about a burlap see through puppet theater. There are several nice things about it. One, if your teacher, the puppet can say; “Hey Mike, get back on your chair” with the puppet. See, the kids are not getting way with anything and they cannot figure out how the puppet sees what they are doing. The other thing is that; I really had a terrible time memorizing. It might look easy but it is not. And so, I like to type up the scripts when I do a puppet show and the jokes whatever, and put it on the back of the burlap with pins and so I can, with my hands, run the puppet and at the same time, read the script and it is great. Just remember the lamps are here and here so you can see really well.
All right, we are going to look now at the puppet theater from the backside, so you see what I did. This is the inside of the theater, and as you can see 1-2-3-4-5-6 of the foam boards, the large sides 40 by 30. I painted the two insides black because they are walls and I let the other ones white.
Now, when I went to glue the two together; because the surface is so large, they did not want to stay together. So I took them upstairs and lay them all in my kitchen floor and try to glue with the tacky glue, the two pieces, the two top and bottom pieces together. Well, you can imagine what happened? I do not know I only got tacky glue all over so you do not want to do that.
So, if you put down newspaper what will happen? The newspaper will stick to the board so you cannot do that either. So what do you do next? This is what you have to do when you start a project. Just experiment, think, let it sit for a while, think about what to do and try something else because eventually if you keep on, you will have a good job man.
So take a look at this puppet theater that was really worth all the trouble and exasperation that I went through yesterday. But what I ended up doing, was taking that clear plastic tape. It could have been white but I chose clear plastic because I did not know what I was going to put it on. And, I taped it along the two together.
Now it is underneath two layers here. But I taped clear plastic tape at each section separately, this section separately, this section separately, and this section separately. I taped across the inside not the pink side because I already painted the outside six walls. So, on the inside, I put clear plastic tape and then I turned it over, laid it down on the floor and with the clear plastic tape protecting the kitchen floor from the tacky glue and a little bit of newspaper beside just in case.
I, put tacky glue, I wish I could show you but I cannot. I just filled the scene with tacky glue and then bend it together to hold
