All right folks. What I am going to do now is a bit of a DJ tip for you. I am going to show you how to do a spin back. But two different versions that are completely and totally not any different and both would sound awesome.
To start the record off, we are going to use the same ones we used. So, let us pretend now that they are all playing, we got them in beat, etc. [music playing]. All right, get them in beat. Okay, first thing is basically when the turntable is still moving. [music playing]. Okay, so we will go to this side. Okay, this one is still moving, turntables are moving. [music playing]. Okay. That is the first one. It is basically when the turntable is still moving. What is happening is that the turntable is going the way that it should you are spinning the record back. But because of the friction underneath, the record will slow down rather quickly. If you got a very good slick mat, it will go faster. That is the fist spin back, with the actual turntable moving.
The next one is that it sounds better and you can mess around with it a bit. So, we will do the same thing. We will start them both off at the same time. We hopefully get them started off at the same time this time. Now this time, what I am going to do, I am actually going to stop the record. So I got the mixing and etc. If you imagine, I am playing this one. I am bringing this one in so I do not really need this one anymore so I can mess around with it. Before taking it off, I could give a really fast spin back. I will show you what I mean.
So let us say that this guy is playing here [music playing]. So I am going to bring this one in [music playing] so I am bringing [music playing] do not do that. Okay we will start it off again. [music playing]. Okay, that is playing all right. So we will bring this one in [music playing]. So, I am bringing this one into the mix now [music playing]. Okay, I got a mix. I am turning it off. There is not power going to this turntable now. [music playing]
Okay. It probably was not exactly the best way of showing you but the best example. But basically, what I did with the first one, the turntable was moving and I spun it back with my fingers across that. While I spun it back, I moved my hand quickly across. I have the crossfade over to that side. As soon as the record stopped, it crossfade back over to the one that was playing. The difference is, with the second one, what I did, I actually turned the platter of the turntable off. So, now power was going to the turntable. Then I span it as fast as I could, so maybe it was going maybe 150 RPM. And what you can do is that if you can listen to the buzz, you can actually maybe slow it down with your finger. So bang and it goes. Two spin backs. Practice and enjoy.
