How to Blog Professionally Part 1
I know some of you have submitted top tips and have posted them are ready to your Lockergnome blog, which is really kind of cool. A good HDTV tips list was submitted just the other day and it was posted for some Lockergnome that was from one are you guys out there. Matt, I believe posted that one of you Matt. Matt’s tech from the chat room at live.pirillo.com.
The matter I got questions all at a time about blogging and blogging tips and things to do and thing not to do and you know the web is full of blogs. Which is cool because everybody is got their own thoughts that they want to share with the world and that is pretty much what blog are is. It is a publishing platform. It is a chance for you to share what you think with the world. That is both of good and the bad things because some people can not form a very complete thought and I am guilty of that at times.
More than anything, at your blog, when you published something put it on the web it is out there, like forever. Like even if you delete that post the way back machine may hold on to it, it could be on Google’s cache for a while and there is no way you can ever delete all the data that you published to net. That, that is one very important thing to think about when I read this list to you, submitted by a young and 14 years old, Thomas.
And he says, “I tried blogging about tech and makes some money”. He said kept it up for two months and during those two months he got ten subscribers and two hundred visitors in 30 cents. It also changed title at the end of two months, he notes that he stopped because it was stressing him out and causing him to lose sleep. He learned quite a bit during those two months and that is 14 years old, you know—I am glad you tried, and I am glad you shared this tips and we are going to see if they are applicable to everybody, not just to people who are, maybe in Thomas age range or my age range or an age range well beyond.
He says that he noticed that we have got quite of following of all sorts of ages here and he thought he would share from his prospective the top five “Do’s and Don’t” for beginning bloggers who might specifically want to make money.
Number five—do not think you are going to get rich quick. Blogging takes a ton of effort, work, and time. You are not just going to start a blog right a few poster and AdSense and make a million dollars, so keep that in mind. I do, because I enjoy it as well, not just for money but of course I am only 14 and I do not need to feed a family.
So, one of the reasons why I opened up blogs on Lockergnome because I can help people make money from blogging in that way and more than anything we have a couple of people who got and bigger writing gigs cause they wrote so well and they did really good. They wrote really well and did articles that were unique and just well constructed and they got picked up and have either now moved on and started to do other writing gigs, thanks to what they did on Lockergnome and then even beyond that they have got courted and press articles because of the stuffs they written on Lockergnome.
Number four—choose a niche and no tech is not a niche. Unless you are somebody like who lives, eats, sleeps and breath tech is, he notes is me. Tech is just too wide of topic, trust me, I have tried it. And that is the thing. Blogging is something on the internet and there are lot of geeks on the internet, so when a tool is available, who do you think is the first to jump on it—geeks! What the geeks write about? They write about what they know and what do they know—technology.
So if you are going to write about tech, you had to have a very strong voice, you have to be dead on, you have to just gain such a strong following that its going to make it worth your time, maybe not monetarily but certainly in terms of the amount of people that you are going to reach.
So he said, “So, what is your blog you ask?” Well, make a list of your top five things to do. Those are all potential blog topics. Blog about what you like, otherwise it will get boring and become mature. Why do you think I have been encouraging you guys to submit top five lists? Many of you have, either blog, you found about blogging, you just do not know to blog about it. You make a top five tips list. It is amazing further for a blog post. It is amazing to share your knowledge with the rest of the world.
And if you bullet down to five or so topics, it is enough especially if they are very, very, very, very, very unique points that you bringing up for me, just to saying top five ways of picking up a remote control. I mean, why you could pick it up this way, you pick it up this way. I mean, you cannot like pick up the remote control so many times.
