Chapter 1: Changing Oil (Group 8 Productions)
Step 1: Getting Necessary Tools: Wrenches, Oil, Oil filter, Rags, Creeper, etc…
Precaution: Make sure the car’s engine is cool when changing the oil.
Note: Castrol 5w-30 was used for this test car in this video.
Step 2: Locating the Oil Pan: This will be located under the engine of the car.
Step 3: Locating the Bolt on the Oil Pan: This tends to be on the end of the oil pan pointing towards the back of the car.
Step 4: Removing the Bolt: Using the correct wrench, remove the bolt from the oil pan. Be sure to have something under the car for the oil to spill into.
Step 5: Draining the oil: Let the oil drain until it’s a hardly visible stream.
Step 6: Replacing the Bolt: Tightly screw the bolt back on to the oil pan.
Step 7: Locating the Oil Filter: The oil filter will be near the oil pan, typically closer to the engine.
Remove the filter by hand or by a wrench if needed (Caution: oil will spill out from filter)
Step 8: Replacing the Filter: Coat the new oil filter’s sealing ring with oil to prevent leakage, then screw on the new oil filter.
Step 9: Locating the Oil Cap (under the hood) The oil cal will typicaslly be located in front of the engine, under the hood of the car.
Step 10: Adding Oil Remove the cap and add the correct amount of oil to the car.
Replace the oil cap and then start the car and test for leaks.
If there are any leaks, check to see that everything tightened properly.
Take the used oil to a local garage. You should change your oil every 3000 miles.
