All right, folks. In this video, what we are going to be doing is just concentrating on one mix. The reason being is simply this. When you are in your bedroom and you are putting your set together, you are concentrating more so on actually the entire set. What I need to do here is pick two of your favorite records.
Get those two records. I used to do this years ago because it basically taught me how to mix. What I would do, I would spend ages just playing two records and trying to mix those two records together. Now then, let us say all of a sudden within two or three minutes, you have got them both beat matched and they work fine and you leave them and that is brilliant. Do not stop there.
What I want you to do then is we are going to start all over again but one of the pitch controls, move it down about that much and then start again. Then once you have got them beat matched, do exactly the same thing but move the pitch again slightly and start again. Bring it up slightly and start again. You are actually doing two things here. The one is you are teaching yourself how to beat match. The other one, is you are getting used to those two tunes mixing in to each other.
You are actually listening while you are learning. It is all about practice and of course enjoying. I am going to do the same sort of thing. I will show you what I mean. I have got one CD in here on the CD player and it is from this guy that we are giving away next week so hold tight on that. It is from disc one. It is a three disc compilation, it is track four, Teddy Douglas presents those guys. It is called I walk alone.
Let us have a listen to that track first.

This particular cut is quite new. This one and what we are going to mix in and you will see the pitch control working here, is a 12 inch single, it is quite old.
[music playing]
That is that one. Now what we are going to be mixing in, is underground goodies volume five. It is by Cashmere and it is entitled Re a do, da, da, da.
This is what it sounds like.

It jumps, I do apologize, what we will do is we will start this one off again but I am going to change the pitch control, you will actually hear the sound, the tone of the actual CD decrease so you will be able to tell that I am bringing the pitch down.
[music playing]
All right, I will start this one up and I will mix this one in and we will do the same thing again but next time, I will increase the speed of the first one. If I do this for long enough, I am practicing all the time.
