All right folks. In this video, what we are going to be looking at is my sort of technique of using the actual pitch control. Now, what you will see to begin with is that I have done sort of a similar video in the past. But what you will see is that you will see very, very sharp movements to begin with whereas what I am trying to do is that I am trying to find beat. I am trying to bring it back, forward, back, forward, finding the actual beat and then eventually the movements will get smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller.
When I talk you though it what I am doing as well, the two things that we are going to us is: one, as you can see, it is the Rhythm Master’s tracking entitled “Heavy Soul”. It is the Black and Blue’s “Test Pressing and then the other side is the Boogy Pimps’ “Somebody to Love”. So, we will play the Boogy Pimps, get that started and then we will bring in the rhythm master’s “Heavy Soul”. Okay.
[music playing]
So, what we will to do now is that we will put the volume down a little bit there. And, that is ready. There is pitch control. Now, just to show you that this is not a set up, we just put that up over there. What I am doing now on the head phone is so I can hear it just being queued up. Now, I am actually listening through the headphones. Now, I am fine tuning it now. It is roughly about here. So, I got my eye on nearing of that sort of position. Because I am fine tuning, I am actually keeping my eye on that particular position. And every time that I slow it down, I always just tone that. If I know that it has to go slower in that position, there is not point bringing it back to that position, it has to go a bit slower again.
Now see what I have done here. Very, very fine tuning there. All right, let us see what they are like. Get it more slower. Tune it up. You see, all the time, I am trying to keep my finger on the pitch intro because if I leave it off for a certain amount of time, all that will happen is it perhaps it will eventually go off beat and then it is more difficult to get it back into beat.
[music stopped]
Okay. I am going to take it off and we will do the same thing again. But this time, what we will do is we will just change the actual speed of the Boogy Pimps. So, we will put it back on.
[music playing]
All right, let us slow it down this time. Okay, that is quite a lot slower. Now then, it is going to be a different place, is it not? So, think about it now. If I start this one off at the beat, bang. Now straight away, I am going to have to lower it. So, while I lower the pitch, the beat is going to go boom, boom, boom, until they match. But as soon as they match about this point, then I am going to have to start speeding up again because if left it down here, all that would happen is that it would just be too slower. Because if you think about it, I have to slow the speed down for the beats to almost patch up in this record. But, if I left it where it was, this one here would just get too slow. It would just go way, way over and then I have to stop – actually, because it is going to slow, it is going to have to wait. So, what I need to do is run into them and increase it up until catches up again. But still, at maybe this point, it is still too fast so I got to straight down again, and then it is going too slow, speed up, slow, speed, slow, speed until eventually, the movements are so tiny. They are almost miniature.
But what I am doing, I am noticing a point here and a point here and I know that in between those two points is roughly where it is going to mix. So eventually, the actual place where the pitch control must go is minuscule. It is almost a fraction of a millimeter, bang.
So, what I am going to do now is that I am going to wind this back a little and we will give it a go. Now, what I am going to do – because I am holding the microphone, I go the actual volume control up in the rhythm masters. So, let us see what it sounds like.
