Hi, I am Joe Graedon. I am a pharmacologist. I write the people’s pharmacy newspaper column and co-host the radio show. It is not polite to talk about gas, but everybody passes gas, on average, not about 14x a day. When it gets above 20 or 30x a day, well then, you may have a problem and you probably need to figure out what is causing the trouble, so keep up, fart, chart, that is right, find out what foods causes you, you know, digestive tract problems. And then try to eliminate them, but sadly a lot of the foods that are heart healthy will also cause gas, so that is why you might want to turn to something like beano, it helps digest a lot of that fiber and undigested sugars that cause those kinds of gas problems. You might also want to try the pink liquid, you know, Peptobismal, it takes away the odor. You know, here is a kind of herbal approach. Phenol, you can make phenol tea or just take phenol capsules, it also can solve a gas problem. And now, here is something that bartenders know about, it is called angusterobidders, aromatic bidders used to make certain kinds of you know alcoholic beverage drinks like I think a Manhattan uses angusterobidders, it will say right on the label exactly how to use it for gas. You know, there is another product out there you might want to look for, it probiotics, this is good germs and they kind a help reestablish the balance in your digestive tract and can take away a gas problem when all else fails, well, you might want to look for carbonized underwear, yeah, can you believe it. This stuff will actually soak up those gas odors and nobody will know you passed gas. Finally, there is the flatulence well, shall we call it a cushion you sit on it. Not only does it absorb the sounds but it also absorbs the odor. So whether it is undies or whether it is something like beano, we have all kinds of ways to solve that passing gas problem.
