Dan: Hi, I am Dan. I want to talk to you about the basics of freezing foods. Fresh vegetables and fruits can last up to three to six months. Fruits and vegetables take really well to freezing. Here is a perfect example of the freezer that has not been taken care of. It's really important to label because you want to know when it went in and more importantly, you want to know what the heck it is. I am not quite sure. It's either chicken or -- let's just hope it's chicken. Some people don't know this but a freezer is not magical. So if you put in meat that is not looking too good, it's not going to reverse spoiling. That's really important, some people don't know that and there are a number of things that you should not freeze. Mayo, cream puddings and filling, cheeses, gelatins, salads. Now it's a good idea to put lids on your ice-cream because you will get freezer burn but we crystals that form and it will not only make the food less appetizing to look at. It's not very good to eat. Now these are bananas, you definitely don't want to eat these but they are great for banana bread.
Remember though, if a food doesn't look good you probably shouldn't eat it and in closing much like I have to do right now, you want to wrap something up very well very tight. Got to make sure that it's going to keep for a long time as I hope my message stays with you.
