Well there is nothing like the old standby the Forsythia. When the yellow flowers come out, it is a sure sign that spring is here or on its way.
This fast growing schrubble actually grow in just about any kind of conditions. But, it has been around and there a lot of yellow flowers, what about something a little different.
What we have got here is actually its cousin; the white Forsythia which is actually called abilio filume. And this one, although you are probably looking at saying it looks pink, what happen is that it has a purple butt which opens up to a pink sort of a smaller flower. And once it finally opens up to a brilliant white.
Now, this is a great contrast against the dark branches. Now this branches are often dark brown almost to a black and they really look great.
Now like its cousin, it is actually part of the olive family and it is actually has sort of almond scent to it so, it is a really nice looking plant.
Now, when you find it in the nursery, you might see it in this sort of shape which is not probably the greatest and in the sense it is in the small pot and the nursery grows or probably wanted it to have flowers on it so were is the more sellable product.
So what they have done they have let it grow, and they will let it grow just so it will have those flowers.
Now to do this properly, what you want to do is because of flowers on old wood, as soon as the flowers have finished, you want to put them back at that time.
Now, what that will give you is not only it will give you a nice bushy plant like the yellow one here,
But it will also give you lots and lots of flowers.
So, if you are looking for something a little different, maybe not yellow, you might want to try the white Forsythia.
