Speaker: Yesterday, after showing you how to do the snowman on this cake topper, I have been asked several times how I did the Christmas tree. So I thought it best to put another video together and show you how I did that too. I will just put that up there. I have got some modeling piece here. That's a sugar paste or fondant mixed with CMC powder that's table's powder or you can use gum paste ready-made as well for this.
Now roll this ball into a cone shape and at the bottom, finger and thumb just pen shaped the edges a little flatter like so, like how we did for the hut, just to get that basic cone shape. Take a paint brush; this is purely to hold it together. Stick it in the bottom and that's you are ready to work. I use scissors that are bent, cut out at the end and these are like nail scissors because it gets me a bit angle to snip out the paste and all you do is take your scissors start at the top and little snips. All the way around in between and as you snip, the paste will stick out on its own.
Just catch it with the end of your scissors and snip like so. It's quite time consuming. I hope you can see what I am doing quite clearly. All the way around, keep turning it. Best to hold it and I am not right position, obviously, I am holding it this way to let you see this, what I am doing. But when you are doing it yourself, if you hold it upright, you get a much better angle to cut. Just keep going all the way round up. This looks like it's going to be a little dumpy Christmas tree but it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It's your tree at the end of day, whichever size you want it to be, perhaps it'll be.
I didn't decorate this other one very much yesterday but you can stick lots of silver or gold colored balls and the jaggy type thing and/or you can tape over it with royal icing or just simply shake some icing sugar over it for a snow effect. All these effects make a nice, a different Christmas tree. Up here we start on the top and pinch of gold or whatever it takes. And basically that is it, that's all you have to do carefully left off, put to end position and if it needs to have any other, let's say tweak, just use a paint brush or your finger and pull the point on the side but not really as all that has to it and then you can add it to your design. That has a smaller dumpier tree but at least it shows you how I do it.
