Next drill we want to take you through is another penetration drill which puts more pressure on the defense. Again, as a point guard, you see that there is a big lane open and offense is a big hole or gap in the offense. It is your responsibility to take charge of that, you need to have moves that will enable you to do that.

Down low, dribble hard. He is getting into a dribbling rhythm then he explodes and goes to the basket. We call it the sleeper because, do it again, it gets the defensive player into a rhythm. So, he is used to sliding and then you have to put the afterburners on and you go to the basket. So we are lowing or putting the defensive player to sleep, we go four or five times on a shuffle dribble or a sleeper dribble then we explode. Go ahead, go game speed, explode, good. Go ahead, now add in a jump shot. Once it comes back let it come back.
So add a jump shot, same move, go ahead. We like to jump shot just inside the foul lane because it is a little higher percentage shot. It also again, allows you the ability to dish. Go ahead; just get inside the foul lane, right inside the foul lane. That is above the foul line, I want your two feet inside. I want you to penetrate the paint, there you go. It becomes a higher percentage shot for the point guards, they have more confidence with it, and it draws the big people so you dish if you need to. One more, good.
Now, we are going to do the same drill sleeper. But we are going to go with the right hand coming to the left side of the court. Go for the lay-up, explode, get up, good, explode, and go inside the lane AT. I want your foot inside the lane, we like that spot, it is a much easier shot, you got a lot more confidence with it, and we go one foot inside the lane. Get a foot inside the lane, explode there, good.
