How to Treat Motion Sickness

I am Joe Graden, I am a pharmacologist. I write the People’s Pharmacy Syndicated newspaper column and co-host the radio show. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than motion sickness. You know, there is that voice from the back of the car, “Mommy, I am going to be sick,” or if you are on a boat—that rocking and rolling makes you feel so nauseated, you really cannot enjoy your vacation. Well, you can go to the pharmacy and find products like Dramamin and Bonine. They have been around for decades. They have an antihistamine in them and they really can control motion sickness, but it also can make some people so drowsy that they really cannot enjoy the vacation. What else can you do? Well, ancient Chinese tradition has acupressure that is quite effective. These C-bands, they work by pressing on an acupressure point on the wrist and can help control motion sickness and even nausea associated with morning sickness if a woman is pregnant. The ancient Chinese also have used ginger for thousands of years The mariners knew that ginger worked pretty well, so whether it is ginger gum or a ginger pill, or ginger root, it all works surprisingly well, I kind of like ginger ale. So next time you head out on vacation, maybe you want to take along some Gingersnaps for the kids or maybe some ginger ale for yourself so that you do not let motion sickness ruin your vacation.
