Alright, folks, quite a few people have said, how do I actually get good audio? How come I am getting better audio and they cannot. They are using the same cameras and it does not really matter, but this is the reason—it is because the actual camera I am using has got something called a mic input. You’ll see it on most—when I say most, not all video cameras. You’ll see MIC. Okay, that is stands or short from microphone. There are lots of ways of using that. Let us say for example, you know the DJ, they want to record something.
Now let us say you are filming someone and you are here and I am standing where I am and the people you are filming are say 10 or 20 feet away, maybe 15 meters away, now then if they are talking and you want to capture their voices, the actual microphones on the camera will not be adequate, because they will not be able to pick up the sound from that distance, so until they probably will but not as good a quality as perhaps you would like. So the thing to do is to plug in a microphone, an extension, a lead and have the microphone closer to the people, so therefore, you are getting much better audio.
Now the reason I am doing this is for people who like to mess around with audio, turntables and CD players, et cetera. All we need is a DJ mixer and what you will need is either a recorder, but ideally with most DJ mixers now, you have something called a booth end, a booth control dial which with this one, it has just got a B on it.
Now, the booth out is simply for this. It is like a monitor system. Now nine times out of ten, what you’ll find is the night club is they have a master output which goes out to all the big speakers, the booth out will be there for the DJ for his monitors and he will have his own little dial that he can turn up or turn down so he could get a good sound in the side, but what we are going to do, we are going to use that to stick—to go into the actual camera so we have got the audio sitting directly from here into the camera.
It is easy to mix, but how do we do it. first of all, we have got this tune to play, I am going to give you just a demonstration first of the audio sound we will get using the microphones from the camera.

There you go. I mean the things is with this. If I was talking or in a room, you have got lots of sounds outside of what really you want to hear. So what you want to try to do is you want to get all the outside sounds out of the way and just try and concentrate on the sound from the mixer.

How did you do it? This here is a mini jack. That is the sort of thing that you will put into your iPod, put into a small cassette player, put into a small mini disc player and that sort of things. That is what you need. And then on the other side, you need some of these. It is very simple. There you go. Phono cables.
This is what I am going to do. I am just going to power the camera down and show you and it is also quite a good tip with this, whereby you can automatically get the optimum sound while you are recording so you know exactly what you are doing.
I will explain this.
But now then, you have got something called booth. You can just about see it. so again, do not forget, red and white, left and right.
So just make sure. I mean, at the end of the day I have seen people, they put the red up here and white down and they have got it all over the place. If you put them in the correct plugs, then you will know that it is always going to be correct. It is always going to be right is right and left is left.

This now, I am going to plug this into the back of the camera. Now then, before I do that, I am going to show you exactly what I am going to do. Now this is how we can get good audo.
