Ingredients (for vinegar):
6 tablespoons vinegar,
5 tablespoons finely granulated sugar,
3 teaspoons salt.
(for rice)
1 cup rice,
mixing bowls,
rice cooker or pot,
fan.
Insert one cup of short-grained sticky rice into a bowl. Wash the rice thoroughly. Dump the dirty water. Repeat the washing process until the water drains clear.
Now strain all of the water from the rice. Allow the rice to sit for thirty minutes. It will look like this (whiter than usual). Dump all of the rice into the rice cooker. Add your usual amount of water and cook the rice.
While you are waiting, prepare the vinegar mixture, by adding sugar, salt and rice vinegar into a pan.
Heat the mixture on low heat until the sugar dissolves, and then transfer the mixture to a cool bowl (a bowl sitting in ice water will help the vinegar mixture cool off faster).
When the rice is done cooking, scoop it into a large mixing bowl. It keeps going and going...
So that's one cup of rice when cooked.
Add the vinegar mix.
While mixing the vinegar, fan the rice to pull off excess moisture.
Unless you are very coordinated you may need someone to help you. Preferably NOT the person with the camera.
Take about ten minutes to mix the rice thoroughly.
And you are done!
A little abrupt, we know.
There is no music, you may have noticed.
But we support indie musicians, and if you want to us to use your music, let us know at eat@sushimonsters.com, if we use it, we will give full credits.
Ps - genre doesn't matter; the only thing that DOES matter is that it's yours.
Happy eating!
