Keep the ring, I’m takin’ the dog. That’s what Hugh Hefner is telling ex-fiance Crystal Harris, who infamously ditched him just days before their June nuptials.
25-year-old Harris called off her wedding to 85-year-old Hefner just five days before they were set to get hitched -- saying she felt the union just wasn’t right. At the time, she told HLN’s Joy Behar that Hef let her keep her $90,000 engagement ring and a Bentley, while he kept their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, aptly named Charlie.
But now, Hefner tells People -- Harris seems to be having dog-owner’s remorse -- and that the two have been going back-and-forth over custody of Charlie. He told the mag:
“We both love the puppy … I told her if she wants to keep the ring and the Bentley, then maybe I can keep the puppy. I [hope] we will work it out. … The puppy’s valuable, but not $100,000 worth.”
Hef doesn’t seem to be keeping up with Runaway Bride Harris -- she sold the ring already, back in October. The couple’s engagement made headlines not only for their age difference, but also because Hef famously wouldn’t marry longtime love Holly Madison -- his girlfriend before Harris. ET reminds us that Hef, though sad, was ultimately grateful Harris left.
HUGH HEFNER: “I didn’t see any of this coming, but as Holly observed after the fact -- she suggested that I missed a bullet, and I think that’s probably true.”
But -- don’t feel too bad for Hef. As always, he’s got some blonde beauties to keep him warm. Reports Newsday:
“...he has since moved on with two new women in his life: Shera Bechard and Anna Sophia Berglund.”
And Harris isn’t alone either -- she was rumored to be dating Dr. Phil’s son, Jordan McGraw, right after ending things with Hef. We wonder what Dr. Phil would say about separating a man from his dog ...
