The drink I want to show you now is called a Hurricane. Now Hurricane was made famous by a restaurant down in New Orleans called Pat O’Brien’s. I think it is still there after the great Hurricane a couple of years ago called Katrina.
Now there are many variations of this recipe, this just happens to be one of them. So we are going to use our shaking tin. I bought this shaker, put ice in there, and the recipe calls for a couple of ounces of our pineapples juice, so I am going to use some pineapple juice right here. Alright, I am just kind of pour it in there.
All right, there is our pineapple juice. Seal this up, and it calls for half ounce of vodka. We got our vodka there. It calls for half ounce of our light rum.
(Demonstration)
Half ounce of triple sac, which is our orange peelish flavored sweet liquor, and then what we are going to use is some amaretto which is our almond flavored liquor. If you do not have amaretto, you could use crème de almond if you have it.
So we are going to give it a little bit of nutty taste here, half ounce. This is a pretty strong drink. We have got a couple ounces of liquor in there that will get you.
Okay, and then what we want to do, is we also want to sweeten it up a little bit. We want to put a splash of our grenadine syrup in there. Our grenadine is our nonalcoholic syrup made from pomegranate.
Let us shake it up, let us get everything kind of thoroughly mixed up, alright. Then what we are going to do is we are going to strain our drink right into our glass, just like so, okay.
Then we are going to add one more thing to it. We are going to take 151 rum, usually it is a dark rum, so it has got a very heavy rum flavor to it, and we are going to float our little 151 rum right on top.
Now, when you are pouring this 151 rum, go easy on it. It has got double the alcoholic content of most rums. Want to put a couple of long straws in it, so you can sip it.
Let us see what else we have here, we have a nice cherry, and let me see what else. Oh, we want to make it look nice, so we can put a little lime wheel on it, okay.
All right, there we have, if we had a piece of pineapple, we could put a pineapple on it. So this is our Hurricane, powerful drink, enjoy it.
