IFA: Flip video cameras come to Germany

Ethan: At the IFA Consumer Electronic Show in Berlin, CISCO announced the availability in Germany of its Flip Video Cameras. The Ultra SD and HD as well as the Minu HD which have been available in the UK, US and elsewhere in the world will come to Germany in November.

Gareth: The difference between them is very simple. The minu is targeted at the market which is 16 to 24 years old where they are very used to the iPod Nano mentality; they charge their camera to the USB. They connect thru the USB and because of their habits in the internet; they very much communicate this way to the cam-recorder and use the cam-recorder to the software to communicate to the outside world. The ultra is for everybody and the ultra the big difference of the ultra is, it’s powered by two double “A” batteries.

Ethan: The minu HD comes with a 1.5 inch screen and records to the H2 64 mp4 format 720P but only includes at SD cable. The ultra HD adds the ability to output via HDMI and has an extra half an hour battery life at two and a half hours. The ultra SD can go around four and a half hours between charges. All the flip cameras include software stored in the device so that nothing is needed to be installed locally in the pc. Once the software is loaded, users can upload videos to MySpace in Youtube or email to some friends and family. The minu HD will cost 199 euros and an ultra HD will cost 179 euros.
