Justin Meisinger: The paperless office and the e-friendly technologies all the raves these days but sometimes there is just that need to print out an email, document, spreadsheet, or confirmation number. Up until now the PrintStik from Planon systems could only print PNG images. And an update to the driver now allows it to print word documents, emails, PDFs and attachments.
Jimmy Singh: The Bluetooth version basically in solid driver on your hand held. You select the email or the email attachment or the document that you want to print. The actual—once the driver is installed, it will give you the Print Option right in the menu itself and you click on that and follow the instructions and it starts printing.
Justin Meisinger: Right now, the PrintStik can be used with Blackberries and Windows mobile phones via Bluetooth. The company is working on a driver to work with iPhones as well. The device itself measures about one inch high and about 11 inches long. Including the battery and the paper cartridge, it weighs about a pound and a half or about a half of kilogram.
Jimmy Singh: It is a Thermo printer. Now, the advantage of thermo is it allows you to get to that compact size where somebody can travel with it. And some of the other advantages versus an Ink Jet printer besides the size would be, you know, there is no ink, so there is no leakage. There is no, it is not susceptible to environment and temperature changes. But Singh did admit that the black and white text will only last for about four or five years, only for a year and a half in direct sunlight. The built in battery will last about 30 prints and a standard page cartridge yields about 20 pages. The PrintStik910 is on sale worldwide for 330 Euros in Europe and 310 dollars in the US.
