Tight turns or tight glide turns. Let us think of the word “glide”. Tight glide turn consists of a strong inside and outside edge glide, with your body weight pushing downwards into the ice. Being able to do tight glide turns in game situations can get you out of a lot of trouble, particularly, getting an opposing player off your tail. You have your right foot in front on outside edge. You have your left foot, which is the outside foot slightly behind, pushing on the inside edge generating a strong knee bend, your hockey stick in front of you leading the way, preceded by a shoulder and a head turn in the direction of travel. You will see an incredible difference on how you can change directions very quickly using these tight turns.
