Speaker: I am going to show you how to make miniature roses like these ones here, very quick, very easy, using fondant mixed with CMC powder which is table pure or tables powder to get the modeling paste. You can use gum paste readymade or you can use readymade petal paste to do that. Roll a small pea sized piece of paste into a bowl then add some sausage and flatten it with your rolling pin. Make petals with your finger. Push your finger into the paste pulling it towards you, like so. Take a cocktail stick and frill each petal. This just fins out your paste and gets your rose a nicer shape, once you start to roll it up.
Turn it over, starting at the end, pinch in the bottom a bit here and start to roll loosely the flower all the way along, catching that final petal in there. Pinch in the bottom give out turn, like so, between your fingers just to catch it to give it that shape and just with the finger pull the petals all the way round like so. Sometimes that is just enough, but if you want to get into the bits or just a little bit too fussy use a leaf veining tool. Sharp end just take in there and gently tease out these other petals, like so. Going other end again, tightening up with your finger. Take a pair of scissors cutting it at the base, snip away and there you have another rose to join these that were already prepared and then you have it.
