Julia: Welcome to TMI Weekly.
Meghan: Your triple dose of Tech, Sex, and Style.
Mary: Today, we're talking about winter white. People are really scared by the old dad age, don't wear a white after a Labor day, or before Ester. And I'm saying throw that crap off the window and wear white during the winter, because you'll prop out and be the life of the party. I love lily.
Julia: Exactly. Okay I have a question.
Mary: Okay.
Julia: I've always heard that winter white is a slightly different color almost a cream, is that true?
Mary: You cannot tell. Honestly what does distinguish winter white from summer white is the fabric, like you're not going to go walking around in linen in December. But, if you've got a cotton blend pant, nobody is going to know whether it's winter white or not.
Meghan: When you wear all white, what are you breaking it up with, are you breaking it up with a black belt, are you breaking it up with a colored belt?
Mary: It's hard to match white, unless you're doing a vest, where you want to show two tones, you should break it up with the belt, some sort of fur or a full fur for you to feel different.
Mary: You can also include the accessories. So, if you don't want to wear an all white, I believe you can incorporate white in other ways, like white tights, white jewelry.
Julia: White tights will make your legs look like ginormous.
Mary: No, you know what, I've seen a few examples and white tights actually look really great against gray and black, because it shows, it's still very conservative, but different. You have to think about this. Everybody else is out there wearing heavy wool, gray, black, brown, purple, if you come in, in any of the white, it will really stand out in the crowd.
Meghan: What do you think about like a white jacket? I mean --
Mary: White jackets are great. If you are in New York, I feel like it's turned gray within like a week. This is the issue with white, it's hard to keep clean in the winter time, and it's definitely easier to wear.
Julia: Yes, you can definitely stick to that. I think this old idea of white gets really, really dirty. It's a little bit exaggerated unless you're dragging your stuff. But you --
Meghan: I had a white designer bag, and literally it turned gray, it turned gray within like three weeks.
Julia: But, I think that's because you'd rug it.
Meghan: I don't rug --
[Commercial]
Mary: Right now, everybody is pinching their pennies, and if you want to be trendy and you want to incorporate white, I would suggest doing it any other way but shoes. First of all it's borderline, second of all they are going to get dirty the quickest. Patent white boots would be the essential white winter accessory but patent in winter is a big no, no.
Julia: But patent black, you can wear in the winter time.
Mary: Oh, of course, rock the black. I don't want to amend the thing, that they are excluded from this trend. Go for it, wear white, stand out, be bold, throw it in with your grays and your blacks, and do something different boys, because you know what, we get a little bored. If you have a different opinion, we'd love to know. We always do. And you're very opinionated. So tell us what you think below.
Julia: And maybe some of those pictures of you in winter white.
Meghan: I would love pictures to see like how people are using their winter whites.
Mary: Thanks for tuning into the style episode of TMI weekly.
Julia: Don't forget to subscribe. Bye.
