I am Steve Terrano welcome to this episode of body performance, let me cover some principles I mentioned in the past and then I will answer some peoples questions. If you are not currently gaining weight, you are not currently over eating for instance, you maybe over weight but if your weight has not change for the last two, three, four or five months you are not overeating. The calories you are taking in are about equivalent to the calories you are burning up. The other principle is when you eat a majority of those calories that are burned through out the day through normal daily activity and that make sense. You may be overweight but if you are eating a certain amount of food and your weight is not increasing that means most of those calories that you are taking in are being burned up.
And normal weight gain is a slow, gradual, imperceptible process it is 20 30 40 extra calories a day that add up to two or three or four pounds a year. When you go on in a vacation and you over eat and you gain 10 or 15 pounds a week or two, that is over eating but normal weight gain do not happened like that. Now, let us look at the question that people are asking, “Steve I am exercising and doing this and Steve I am eating this I think I am burning up this much is this good?” Well if you are on equal limbering(ph), meaning the calories you are taking in are about the equivalent the calories you are burning up and you are not currently gaining weight, any type of increase in your daily activities will create calorie deficit and begin the weight lose process.
How much you do will depend on how fast that weight comes off walk an hour that is 500 calories do that for 7 days you lose a pound. Decrease your eating by an additional 500 calories and walk, now you are down a thousand calories a day. You lose a pound in three and half days, so these are things you need to be aware of. Am I currently gaining weight? You my feel the weight but if I am not currently gaining weight I am not overeating so all I have to do is increase my activity level, decrease either my eating or combination of the two. And that is how you begin to conceptualized whether you are eating enough whether you are exercising enough. Look at how much you weight and then look at what you are doing trough out the day. Love your body.
