Hi everybody, David Basulto of filmmakingcentral.com. We are in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
I had some people emailing me about future tutorials that I was going to do in Adobe Premiere Pro and one of them was, “Dave how do I bring in footage from external sources such as capture cards?” It’s actually very, very simple to do in Premiere Pro.
So if you just go down here into this little area, and you see it says info which will give you info about your clips, effects, history panel, media browser, and I unfortunately don’t have any kind of P2 card or anything like that right now available for the tutorial, but what I do have is my Sony Webbie camera, which is a camera use to record on-the-fly and it is similar to the flip-type camera and it is over here. By going to untitled, it shows up and if I go into MP_Root and here it is. We just move this over here so you could see. These are all my files that I have on that camera right now. Let’s just drag something in here, it’s importing it. All you have to do is click and drag or double click it, and if I double click this, it brings up a little video I shot when I went to Maxon Computers recently and did an interview with Paul Babb the owner there.
So it’s really simple to do. All your information is here. You just drag it in there or double click. Your files will be here, whatever you have it connected to it will say here Panasonic P2 cards, whatever, anything FireWire. Right now I have my Sony Webbie connected via USB2.0 port cord and it works fine. And actually a lot of people say that the small flip-type, I don’t have a flip works as well but the Sony Webbie which I really love, their MP4 files come in fine. And this is high definition 10 ABP footage.
So that’s it, that’s a simple quick tutorial on how to bring in your footage. Let’s bring in another one, just drag it in and there it goes. Let’s see what this is. And this is a trip I went to Disneyland with my son, pushing my little cart around. And that’s it, real simple. Hope this helped you. If you have any questions on that, please email me dave@filmmakingcentral.com. Everyone else, have a great day and keep on making films.
