Hi! And welcome to a fishing knot instruction video from videofishingknots.com. In this video I will show you how to tie an improved half blood knot, also known as an improved clinch knot. You start out by putting the line from the eyelet of the hook and then you wrap the tag end over the standing part five times. So that is 1, and 2, and 3, and 4, and 5. Then you will end up with this twisted line and then you by the eyelet of the hook you will have a loop and what you will do is that you will take the tag end and put it through that little loop, like so and grab the tag end.
If you just pulled the knot tight now, you would have an ordinary half blood knot, but to secure the knot even further, and that is why it is called the improved half blood knot, you will take the tag end and put it through this second loop that you have here where I have my index finger. So you put that end tag through that loop like that and ops! And grab it.
Now you can pull the knot tight and you will not have a half blood knot, but an improved half blood knot and you can pull the standing part and push the knot tight using your thumb and your index finger, like this and you will end up with a nice improved half blood knot.
