Female Speaker: While you have reached the last in car lesson and you are ready for the final evaluation. At this point, your student should have about six months of supervised driving under their belts. You should only give the final evaluation if you feel that your student is ready and can perform all driving tasks safely and effectively.
Speaker: Drive packet nine includes a list of necessary items to evaluate but don't hesitate to incorporate additional exercises that you would like your student to perform, then develop a route that will allow your team to complete all of those tasks.
Female Speaker: Because this is the final driving lesson limit your instruction to location and activities to be evaluated, allow your student to drive the predetermined route with as little help as necessary. Stop the lesson only in case of an emergency or if the student is incapable of completing a task.
Female Speaker: Be sure to have a checklist in the car with you so you can keep a record of your student's performance. When evaluating their ability to complete tasks, don't be lenient, if you aren't sure about something have them repeat the task.
Speaker: That's right; you decide whether or not your student is ready to apply for a license so make sure they are safe, skilled drivers in all necessary areas. If they can't complete all the tasks successfully, take a little more time to work on those specific tasks, then give another evaluation a week or so later.
Female Speaker: If you have taken the time to adequately prepare your student, you have made the road a safer place. You and your student should be proud of completing this program with passion and patience. Good luck and stay safe.
