Ian Searing: This is Ian Searing and you are watching Doing Indy!
Seth Hancock: Hi everybody and welcome to award winning Doing Indy! First of all I want to wish everybody watching out there a very happy Fourth of July because this program is going to be airing on the Fourth of July.
Now see I don’t know about you guys but when I think of the Fourth of July I think of family, patriotism and fireworks. It’s also a time when a lot of people think and reflect upon the things that our forefathers did to make us free. I mean when you think about George Jefferson and Thomas Edison signing the declaration of Independence, I mean you get chills up—
Will somebody fix the cue cards? Its George Washington and Thomas Jefferson—I’m not smart I just need to read the words that are up there. I’m pretty no talent that’s why I’m the host. Anyway, I can tell you guys for a fact that I had been to a number of different countries across the globe and we live in a single best country on the planet. But what I like to think about are all those who have served so that we can maintain our freedom.
Now I don’t know if you guys know this or not, but Indianapolis is second only to Washington DC with regards to the number of monuments that had been erected to honor those who had served. Now, we thought so much of that we went around and we made a movie that kind of highlights all the different monument that Indianapolis has to offer. We think you’re going to like it. Check it out here.
We bow in the memory’s twilight hour – to noble deed by patriots done * and give a pledge to bring to flower * the good they bravely have begun…
Well thanks for tuning into this very special Fourth of July episode here on Doing Indy. We hope you had a great time taking a look at all the monuments that Indy has to offer because we just scratch the surface on those. You guys got to get out there and check them out yourself.
You can go into the War Memorial like we did in that video or you can go into this one right here. This is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument also known as Monument Circle. You can all the way up to the top and get a great view of Indy. You can go all the way down to the basement and look at all the archive of stuff down there. It’s just a great learning experience for you.
The bottom line is you just got to get out there and do it. So for Doing Indy, I’m your host Seth Hancock. And remember in Indianapolis it’s always so easy to do so much you just got to go out there and do something. See you next time!
