Male 1: If a child was born premature or tiny as the doctor see a kid in his office, I am a little concerned, he is not quite doing everything on time. At what age would you, as a Pedia, would recommend the kid would get some kind of a developmental stimulation type of program? When would be the appropriate time to refer the kid?
Male 2: Well, I mean it could be almost at any age but the idea is we try to do it as early as we can. If the child is very impaired, you can tell at birth. Other children can look normal and not show some development impairments until they are 12 to 15 months. Other things are progressive kind of thing or there is a sort of unfolding, can sometimes take years to tell but one should try to do it as early as possible.
Male 1: The first thing, stimulation only one for the kid?
Male 2: That is correct.
Male 1: Okay. Well, not sure it is going to do, if probably as good as the therapist do is not it?
Male 2: Well, I think the only stage that we know about any kinds of therapist, someone we know, we are taking about autism and behavioral interventions seemed to work. All these things seemed to work, but all we know about therapy in general is that certain things seem to work but overall they have good parents and they have good therapist. Those kids seemed to do better and there are studies that showed that.
