Hi, I’m Joe Wise, owner of Buildwise Construction on Orlando, Florida. We’ll continue t do our video on how to remove a garbage disposer and now comes the dirty part. I’ve already got the screws out of here. I’m going to pop this ring off and then I’m going to take out the mounting brackets and now we’ve got the mounting out of the sink. We’re going to clean up the old pump water spout here we’ve cleaned that up really good. If you don’t clean this up the new farmers putty won’t stick to it very good. Now, we’ve got that cleaned out there. I got the old mounting hardware out of there. We’re going to go back with the new one.
Let me show how that works. It’s pretty good to rid off this cap. We don’t need this till later and then we’re going to separate this unit from the mounting hard way itself and that’s what this is for. Just like we use already the sink, we’re going to bring this back like that and as you can see it interlocks see how airlocks there and then were just going to pull this whole mounting bracket off completely.
Now that we get the mounting hard we’re off to disposer itself. We’re going to loosen the screws up a little bit here on the mounting hardware. I’m going to pop this ring, that’s actually locks everything in there. See how that ring pops off there and think about it a quarter pound of plumber’s putty and this stuff doesn’t dry out very quickly. It takes tends of years to make it dry. We’re going to make a bit of plumber’s clay, this probably half an inch thick or maybe it doesn’t quarter to half inch. Don’t have to go around it. We’re just going to seal this around here and then we’re going to put it down into the middle 0142 and just push press down. That’s going to squeeze out the size when I go worry about that and forget it tying down will just take and we’ll move out and just take that screw drivers and will just clean that edge up. But that’s going to keep the water from leaking down underneath it. We’re going to put the wire shows back on here that goes around where the plumbers putty is the mounting bracket by going there. Going to put the mounting bracket screw back here and I’m going to put this locked ring back on it. Like that and you hear a click, tight now the screws. Like the edge of you screw driver just getting all your leftover former putty out of there.
Now that we have the mount assembly and we’re going to hook up the electricity. So you can see this one has a plate over or the element that this is the way that is supposed to be. So, we’re going to screw that, pull the wire and you should have a black and white wire there and you have a place right here for the ground that actually part of the unit. We’re going to take that off. This unit normal, somebody of this will come with this electrical wire stopper and then you want to purchase on here because what you do when you stick your wire through there, you can plug down on it and keep it from pulling out the case through up. Somebody would pull the wire, so we’re going to install that and we’re going to put the wire down into the electrical box of the unit.
Once we have that pulled through there like that, I’m going to tighten down on this clamp. Not to hold the electrical wire in place very tightly so it doesn’t move or somebody can sticks up underneath or beneath the cabinet and pull it loose. Now that we have wire in place, we’re going to hook the white wire to the white wire. We’re going to go black to black. Well, make sure you check your connections upon on your wires because it comes loose you want to come loose now not after you got the electricity turn back on. Those were good and tight. I’m not going to pull this and we’ll put the ground wire. Grand wire is the without any installation around it or any colored to it, it’s a brass looking wire gold. You put around the screw and we’re going to tight the screw down on it so actually ground to the unit.
And then we’re going to put the wires back in the box. Put the cover back on. Put screw back in it. Now, we are ready to take this unit up and attach to the mounting hardware that we just installed a few minutes ago. I want to make sure that your waste line is pointing out in the direction that you’re going hook your waste pipes up on and then we’re going to push up into here and do the exact opposite as we did to take the running hardware apart. You’ve got to go counterclockwise. We’re going to use this tool, look at in the ring like we did before towards this opposite to the right, tighten that unit up just like that. We’ll make sure that’s twisted all the way around. Kind of supply kicks in out here. Now, we’re get ready to hook up our waste lines to the garbage disposal.
