Sherry Tyra: I am Sherry Tyra, the Assistant designer for HGTV's Designed to Sell and owner of Custom Home Interior Creations. Today we are working on No-Sew Window Treatments. Now that we have our window treatment together, we have our fabric mounted on the batten, the ribbons, the velcro. I am going to show you how to kind of roll this up, we have this treatment over here that can be fanned up and tied. This one we are working on is a roller treatment like the one behind me. So all you do is go over here to your batten. I am sorry, to your dowel and you just start rolling it up, keep rolling, try to make sure the fabric stays nice and taught, and you can do this when the, when the window treatment is mounted on the window if it's easier for you to do that. Have your ribbon, just keep rolling until your ribbon reaches your velcro. Same thing on this side, bring your ribbon around to reach your velcro and there you have your window treatment, isn't that awesome?
Now, when you want to mount this on the window, if you are doing an inside mount, just remember that your velcro goes on the back of your batten, on the wide side. If you are doing an out side mount, your velcro will go on the narrow side of the batten, opposite where you have your fabric attached. So velcro on the back, the wide side, if it's an inside mount; on the narrow side,if it is an outside mount.
To mount this into your window frame, all you will need to do is drill a couple of small pilot holes on the end of your wood, just on the other side of the ribbon is good and when you drill, just be careful that you don't grab this fabric. Sometimes the fabric will spin n the drill bit, so just do it very slowly, just kind of go through and this will protect you from, when you screw it into your window frame, it will protect you from having the wood split. You don't want to go through all of this, create these and then have your wood split. That's really a bummer.
So anyway, just drill a couple of small pilot holes and we are set to hang it on the window. Once it's onto the window, you can screw it up inside the window frame or if it's a top mount, lift your fabric up, screw the wood above your window, drop your fabric down and you are all set.
Now, just remember you are only limited by your creativity; use fun fabrics, you can use contrasting coordinating ribbons, you can do two different styles with this, have fun with it. Thanks for watching, I hope that you will have a great time doing your No-Sew Window Treatments.
