Male: Welcome this is foundation and history of podcasting class. I only go through a quick introduction. Talk to you about what we’re going to cover during these classes in some chapters and they will get right on in start learning some stuff about podcasting.
Basically what I want to go through in this 1st series. Is I’m going to talk about the history of podcasting. We’re going to talk about where it came from, some of the primary players and bring this up to date to a about a year ago 2006and talk about some of the main events that created this phenomenon. Which is basically citizen journalism, citizen media and being able to take continent time shifted and consume it whenever you want to.
Next we’ll go through some experiences of some veteran podcasters. We’ll talk about what works for him, what doesn’t work for him and hopefully give you some negative information that may allow to avoid some mistakes and get yourself a jumpstart on doing some things smart right off bat. That’ll help you be successful. The next class that I’ll go through the chapters is going to be covering different styles of podcasting. I’ll spend about 20 minutes going through comedy and some news and politics sites, obviously some text sites that’s where my heart is and a few other genres.
Keeping in mind that there’s plenty out there so what I bring up as far genre it goes. There’s only the tip of the iceberg don’t be afraid to get out there and look for stuff and investigate all different podcast directories that I’m going to introduce you to in later class. Then we’ll going to passion, passion is to be very important when it comes to podcasting. If you don’t love this in most cases we’ll find that you’re going to stick to it. You got to love what you do, you’re going to stick to it and this is something that seems kind of commonsensible but in the same time it’s something that eludes some folks and people tend to fade out and stop podcasting.
Because they didn’t think about that, enough ahead of time and lastly we’ll go through more talk about some quick tricks on how to consume some podcast. I’ll show you how to fire apply I-tunes and subscribe to a podcast directly within the apple inter-phase. I’ll show you how to take some podcast that may not be available on the i-tunes directory and put on in the I-tunes so you can listen to it that way. And then we’ll also talk about some video podcast, watching video podcast on another websites a swell as watching video podcast within I-tunes. So stick around and there’s a lot of great content here.
We’re going t o cover this subject matter from the 10,000 foot year right off the bat and then we’re get in some do some details in later classes. About marketing and promoting and tracking what you’re doing.
