Allen: Hi! My name is Allen. I'm from Orange Country in California. I want to know if my paternal grandfather was bald, will I be bald too? Joseph Greco: I'm glad that you asked that question Allen, because there is a myth out there that hair loss is inherited just from the mother side of the family. That's not completely true. Both male and female pattern hair loss can be inherited from either side of the family. The true genetics is very complex with the inheritance pattern likely being a contribution from both the mother's and the father's side. Likely, there are several genes involved. So if you do lose your hair Allen, you might have to cut your grandfather a break, because it's not only his fault.
