Is a Yoga Ball Helpful for Your Back

Sarah: I'm Sarah, and I'm 25 and I'm from Eureka, Montana. My question is, is a yoga ball better than a nice office chair for back health?

Daveed Frazier: Sarah, it's actually very common question which is asked to us. A yoga ball is actually very helpful, because it seems to keep the lower portion of your back actually curved in a natural position, which is very helpful for patients, in general.

However, an office chair is probably somewhat better, because it's adjustable in many different forms. It's actually more adjustable for your neck, for the position of your arms, and for the positions of your spine relative to the height of the desk. So my response to that is, I think, an office chair would actually be much better for you than a yoga ball.
