Is the Exodus True?
Shalom, this video deals with the question of wither or not the Exodus actually occurred. I was ask the question following way by somebody want me to answer it and then ask the Rabbi series, but it takes too long to answer I think. The question was the Exodus story Phantom Mith, a permanent Rabbi David Walty of Los Angeles are conservative colleague “stated clue”. The truth is the virtue of the every modern archeologist was was investigated the story of the Exodus agreed that the way, the bible describes the Exodus is not the way to happen if it happened at all. And a question calls some prominent archeologist that clearly sorted evidence over self interest is to view that the story of the Exodus maybe mythical shared by any Rabbis in the conservative moment other than Rabbi Wolbe.
The first I would say a little joke welcomes we send the school after learning the story the Exodus in this peremptory. Would you learn of the boys with will? We learned that the Israel a fifth Tencor in vied at Egypt and surround of the palace and fare that no choice but let him go in the engineer core that the bridge over the red sea and it is right to transport it on and should be as vehicles. Apparent that you learn that, Hebrews school and the boys are not exactly, but if you would hear the story that they actually thought us you will not believe it, this is much user to believe.
Okay, well and after the joke so what is the truth? The truth is we have no idea. I mean I basically agree with Rabbi Wolbe and I think most educated people do the bible a side and ask yourself who would invent this slave passes quite probably with our ancestors were slaves in Egypt. Did they get out that the way they did? I have mention other videos that if you read the Egyptian newspapers for a hundred years, you will find that every play occurs, over the course of a hundred years. Or huge sand stones, we cannot see your hander for your face certain kind of the science. Science can show exactly how to use a core certain kind of discharge is come down from the upper Neal and they make the river look red. The flags cannot stand a new kind of water compositions they jump out. They decay brings other disease.
Now, these stories were all for a hundreds of years and by the time our ancestor wrote them down. They probably took those stories and put them together and made them seem like they happen in a short time. Now, I know the orthodox and mentalist to find this heretical, but we do not, I do not really care what they think, they do not really deal in around of scientific truth. They deal just in based on believe and tradition and in that totally and nothing that to the great evil eye of Rabbi who said you have to make believe it based on truth and science and it does not hurt our faith at all to believe this to know the final what science they need to tell us archeology.
Now there are a few support of things besides the bible to tell us about the story for example there is a stone it says that the Israelites for vanquish the Hebri it says actually. So even know that they just got the story that wards and they are in imagination of Egypt, the Hebrew was vanquished still like in some crimes. Now, we do not even know really who dynasties work. The end of Genesis we have a very supportive there and when at the beginning of Exodus and it says that it (foreign language). Will the bible presents that have been over 400 years. Actually chronological way is more about an 145 years and there is all kinds of different theories about which time they were Rabbis. It was Rabbi the second or Merneptah. Was it Moses the third or and the Hotec, the second of the 18 dynasty was that act at not time if the 18th. There are all kind of even things that which fare allows and which dynasty and there is a lots of other series of some of Israelites and Jews pre Jews state. Hikanan some migrated on the Egypt. There is mass Exodus slave revolt and some of the Israelites go out too and they rejoin the cousins that they cannot and total of the story of there experience and eventually we got revolt and in to the story we know now.
Before I go to Blood could Moses in monotheism research of Moses was actually Egyptians, a Egyptian name, lot of theories. The mean point is that we know Puram is a made up story. If you watch my Puram, the truth video to see at least six different reason worth clearly the historical level the book of Ester, more the modifying and Ester were names of the Margo Canasta, a Babylonian Goddesses. Goddess in mention in the book Milton and Ester was never the king or the wife of Kashvera, we know who is wise work. But is does not change the story from a myth perspective. That is not mean if also myth meeting the very essence of the civilization. The is the effect that freed at all to say that Puram was a main of the story about Life in Parshat, which tells us the story that happen was over and over in reality think a good historical manual.
It is whether the Exodus occurs exactly the way that all it said it does or it is part of the myth. It does not change the fact that it is the greatest paradigmatic example story that is abbreviation from bondage which flied, imagination of people flying from freedom from that moment for. And it is critical for us to retell the story and we do it with all this very tangible senses of smell and taste and sight, there is not as much as like the smell horse reddish her grandfather makes or the taste dry Matza with the discipline of eating food. It is not as rich during the week. That is the very powerful of the idea of the Matza of Passed over.
Now I know the orthodox would say well that is not true and we cannot do it and I think that is a very limited view and nothing ever in science can change the basic and fantastic stories and ideas and traditions that give a lay behind this. We cannot even figure out for sure what was true in time of Jesus and I mean Christian scholars completely obey what is the new testament was and what he said and that is 1300 years after the Exodus. They even going before the printing press are really cannot verify things and our scholars are always trying to figure out what the Talmud really said because until the middle ages that was not print and that was hand written.
It is also wonder that there are always questions about it, but it does not change my faith. It adds the richness of understanding, the death of the story and the key is telling the story so that we can learn the fundamentals of people striving for freedom and God is on the side of people you look like a little freedom. That is my view and I think the view of most none fanatical Rabbis.
