I am Steve Turano. Welcome to this episode of Body Performance.
Lot of people sits around wondering why they are fat and how it happened. They just cannot realize that they got fat. They just do not see it happening. They do not see themselves over eating, they do not see themselves indulging, they just cannot place it and here is how it happens.
If you eat ten extra calories a day, you will gain one pound in a year. 20 extra calories a day is two pounds in a year. 30 extra calories a day, three pounds a year and so on. 100 extra calories a day that is ten pounds in a year. Now, if you look at these numbers and you think about them over the long term, 15 or 20 years. Over 20 years, 100 extra calories a day is 200 pounds. You will gain 200 pounds over 20 years by simply eating 100 extra calories a day. Now, what you are you going to tell somebody who is eating 100 extra calories a day? “My God man, cannot you control yourself? Look at you!” I mean, how much of self control do you need? It is only 100 calories and most people are not 200 pounds overweight.
So, over the course of 20 years, all it takes is 20 extra calories a day to put 40 pounds on you. Even ten extra calories a day will put 20 pounds on you, over the course of 20 years. And this is how it sneaks up on you, you do not recognize it and it is gradual. And this is how people get confused. “I just do not see what is going on, I am not over eating, I am not eating that much.” And you know what, they are absolutely right. So, in order to control this, in order to get rid of that 20, 30 or 40 pounds in the next six, eight, nine months, you got to exercise and you go to watch what you eat. But that is how weight gain occurs. Normal way it can occur, slowly, gradually, imperceptibly.
Love your body. I will see you next time.
