Hi, I am Steve Turano. Welcome to this episode the Body Performance. Did you see this article in Usmagazine about Janet Jackson losing 60 pounds in four months. I do not think that is quite accurate. Now, this is not a pick on Janet Jackson video. I love Janet Jackson. If she came through my front door I will be honor like a bad piece of chicken pox but I do not think she lost 60 pounds in four months. That is about 4 lbs a week which is rather high and may take seven, eight, nine or ten months to lose this kind of weight.
She loses weight simply by playing sports as the article suggests. If she did, she was probably practicing with Lakers eight hours a day or biking around the offshore like Armstrong. The problem with reading stuff like this is you are going to believe on the stars somehow have a magic boot that allows them to lose weight much faster than you are. This is not accurate. They have to lose weight just like we would, diet, cardio, exercise, watching what they eat, sacrificing, putting in the time.
The problem is you do not hang out with Janet Jackson. So she can lose this weight in a year then you and I would not know the difference. Now, Tom Hanks when he filmed Castaway had stopped filming for a year so he can loose 50 pounds for the second half of the movie. That probably cost the producers a big chunk of change and I am sure they warm him up and loose it a lot faster but that is the way it goes.
So, when you reach stuff like do not take it at the heart. Understand that superstars still have to lose weight like you are, diet and cardio, no different. Love your body. I will see you next time.
