Go from fat kid to fit kid, thanks for the lot of help from different people in my life. And develop a passion for fitness or wellness as a means of helping people change their lives in every aspect. I start to train people at 17. I got out of pipes a little early and I fell into it. I was working out on a gym and people would come up to me and say, “Hey, are you a trainer?” I was like, “Yes.” You have to work hard for this. Yes, I am a trainer. And I did that for years and I got out of it when I was 24 taking any real job, which the lesson here—whatever, and I ended up working as a motion picture packaging agent at a place called ICM Hollywood. I have never been so visible. I wake up every morning and wish for that.
The moral of that story is never move out of your truth. I don’t care what it is that you love to do, if you are passionate about it and that is your truth, you will find a way to make a career or a living, or do what you love. The universe conspires on your behalf when you are in your truth, so trust your heart. Trust your gut; learn to listen to that.
At 27, I ended up thinking, “Okay, I can’t go one more day. I’m not going to make it one more day doing this job.” I got out of business and started working at a sports medicine facility as physical therapy assistant trying to think how am I going to do—what will I do with my life. And she trained people again, and I get a call thinking, “I can’t be a physical trainer.” Why not? What couldn’t I be? Why can’t I be? I am 34 and the old train at running me. I am so happy.
So I get a call from a client I’m working with and she was in mid-30’s, she had a kid who is 50 or 60 pounds. I had a call from her one day and she was in tears. She was like, “I felt my hip on for the first time in eight years.” She is crying, I am fine. Now I realized this brings meaning into my life. This is how I sleep at night. This is what I do because I don’t know what is beyond in this life. I hope there is more, but I have no promise of that.
And so to me, this job is my spiritual practice. It gives me such a meaning, to come here and meet with you guys and shake your hands and take pictures with you, hear your stories, how lucky am I?
So I just love this job, I love everything about it. And really, I have great feeling! So who has questions?
