Hi everybody, it's Merav and I am going to teach you now how to add a Menu item. So this is a Menu, and these are all Menu items, and under that, these are sub-menu items. What We Do, and Team Members are sub-menu items of About menu item.
This is also a menu, and this is also a menu. So the first thing we want to decide is where we want to place our menu item. So let's say that we want to add it here to the main menu. So let's find the Main Menu. So here, under menu is where we can see the list of all our menus, and we are going to choose Main Menu here. As we can see, it lists exactly the same items as it links here on the front-end, Product, Services, Blog, News, About, Login, and under About there are two items.
So what we want to do is we want to add another item here. So there are different types of menu items that you can create. So let's just say click on New and see what happens. So the first option we have is Internal Links. It means that it's linking inside your site, and it's going to list here the different components that we have, we haven't talked about that yet. So what I want you to pay attention to is that I only want you to pay attention to one thing here is the Articles, forget about the rest for now.
Later, we are going to talk also about an External Link and stuff like that. So let's talk about Articles first. What Articles means is that it's going to link to articles inside the website. It can be an individual article, or it can be a list of articles. So let's take a look what happens when I click on Articles.
So the first option is to link to an Archived Article Lists. We don't want that, we don't know what it is yet. The second one Article Layout, meaning I am going to link to an exact specific article. Article Submission Layout, meaning I want to link to a page that allows others submit articles. We don't want to handle this one right now.
So, so far the only thing that's interesting to us is how to link to a specific article. And there are few other interesting options for us. If you want to link to different articles of the same category, then we have two options, we have the Blog Layout and we have the List Layout.
The Blog Layout looks like our blogs, let see. So click on Blog. This is a blog layout. It means that it shows a title, it shows a little bit of the article, and then there is a Read More. We have other pages that look like that. Take a look at Services. This one is also a blog layout of a certain category, and a product. This is also a blog layout.
Another option is to show a list of items, not the blog, it's a list. It looks like a table. We are going to do this in a second. I want you to ignore this for now, and Blog for Section or Section Layout, it means that the Blog for Section is just like the category Blog Only. It shows articles from a specific section and also from a specific category, which means it's going to be different articles from different categories of that section. And Section Layout, meaning it just shows the list of all the categories of that section.
So let's give a try to the first item here that we are interested in. Remember, we are interested in Article Layout, Category Blog Layout, Category List Layout, and I think this is it for now.
So let's start with Article Layout. I am going to click on that and see what happens. Well, the first thing you need to do is you need to give your menu item a title. For example, let's call it Best Selling Product. Now, we have to choose the Parent Item. We don't want to have it under any other menu items. So we are going to leave it at Top. I am going to ignore the rest because it's not that important right now.
Here, on the right is the most important thing. You have to choose the article that you want to link to. So I am going to click on Select. Now, it's going to allow me to choose a specific article. For example, Product 3. So all I have to do is just click on it and it will edit. And if I can't find it, I can just enter a keyword here and it will find it for me, or I can Filter by Section and Category.
But, I found it easily, so I am just going to click on that, Product 3, and I am going to click Save. Let's take a look at it on the front-end. I am going to Refresh the page to see this new menu item. As you can see, it edit it right here. Now, we can click on it and see what happens.
So here it is, we can see a page that has this product as we call it our Best Selling Product, and the whole page is just about this product. It's not a blog that's showing different products, it's just showing this one item. So this is for individual articles. Now, let's go ahead and delete this menu item for now. We don't need it anymore.
Let's create a new menu item. This time, I am going to try the Blog way of doing things. So we are going to click on Article again. This time, we are going to choose Category-Blog Layout. Now, we need to choose to which category we want to link to. Which items we want to show.
So here on the right, we have a list of categories. So let's say, we want to show a list of all the team members of our site, of our company. So let's call it Our team. Here on the right, it has parameters of what kind of layout it's going to have. So let's leave it by default for now, so that you can see how it looks like, and we are going to change it later.
Now, I am going to click on Apply, and I am not going to click on Save, because I want to stay in this page. So I am going to click here, and it's not going to take me away from this page, it's going to keep me on this same page. Let's take a look on the front-end.
I am going to Refresh the page. As you can see, it's showing me in a blog format all the articles of the category Team. As you can see, there is one item here on the top that's stretching from left to right, and there are four additional items, one, two, three, four in two different columns. So I think it looks okay, but if I wanted it to look like this one here, stretch from left to right without two columns, just one column, how do I do that? So that's really easy.
Here on the right, you can see that the Leading item is the one that's stretching all the way from left to right, and then there are 4 Intro items, and 2 Columns. So all we have to do is change 2 to 1, and now we are going to have only one column. Let's apply it, and take a look.
Now, as you can see, I have all the items in one column. So it looks a little bit more organized to me, but it's totally up to you. You can do anything you want and make it look the way you want.
The last item here is Links. Now, if we had more items than five, we only have five, if we had more, then it would show instead of having the whole blog look to the other additional items, it was going to show a link to them. So let's give it a try. Let's just do 2 Intro and 4 Links. Let's see what happens. Now remember, we only have five items. So it's 1+2 is 3,+4, it's 7. So it's more than what we need, but that's okay. Let's Apply it and see what happens.
Okay. So this is after we refresh the page. As you can see, this is our Leading item, it's always from left to right. This is our Intro and it's right now showing in one column, one item, two items, and these are our links, one and two. And if there is more, it's going to take us to next page and show us more items.
Here is our last item, the last item that we have. These are the ones that were showing as Links, now they show in the regular format. Let's save this menu item and let's close it. We have already saved it. The last menu item I would like to show you is the Table.
So let's click on New, click on Articles, and on the Category, we are going to choose List Layout. Let's see what kind of goal we would like to link to. Let's say, we want to link to our Services. So we are going to call the Menu Item Services. And this is how many links we want to show at the bottom, let's say 5, and let's apply it for now and see how it looks like. So this is our new menu item, and this is our table. So you can see the different items here.
Now, you can go and make a bunch of changes here and decide which items you want to show and if you want to show f
