Narrator: The Doctor signs with Virginia for $500,000.00 over 4 years. The investment proves justified. He leads the ABA in scoring for second year, but then he sold to the New York Nets.
Julius Erving: I know I just having problems playing with any of the Nets, I think, you know I can play basketball with anybody as long as our objective is all the same, and that is to win.
Narrator: The Doctor leads the Nets into the 1974 Finals versus Utah. He scores a total of 92 points in three straight Nets victories.
Announcer: Erving with the basketball, inside the half court, it is a 40-ft (applauses)
Narrator: After losing Game 4, the Nets still lead only one victory to quench, and the Doctor response.
Announcer: Coach Kevin marks these Nets in control. Erving is trying to make his move, goes left, stopped, goes up and a jump in it. And the Nets win the championship, it becomes is back to New York, his hometown, and wins the championship.
