Hi, I am Gail Guinzburg. Welcome o installment three of Kabbalah for Today. a practical introduction to traditional Jewish Mysticism, design to help you along your personal spiritual journey. In installment one, I defined Kabbalah is a sum total of Jewish mystical practices and teachings intended to connecting individual with God. In Installment two, I introduced the main Kabalistic symbol, the tree of life, portrayed as ten interconnected vessels or sephirot. Which are understood as channels of divine creative energy or life force.
The second of the sephirot is known by the Hebrew word hockma meaning wisdom. This represents the stage and the creative process in which the pure light of in soul, the limitless divine unity begins to shine forth. There is yet no differentiation always one, always light. There are couples of profound insights that we can take from the sera of hockma, wisdom.
First, the inter connectedness of all that is when we are insight Shema, the basic statement of Jewish belief, which goes here oh Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one or in Hebrew shema Israel Arunai Elhainu Arunai Ekhad.
The idea of God being one means several things. First of all they are not three God or 25 Gods or one thousand Gods. There is one, the same God, is God of all. This also teaches us that they are not zero God’s. In other words this one God is we are also thought that through God, there is an absolute unity of all creations thoroughly always one and that is the basis of wisdom.
The next insight for us from hockma is the idea of living fully in the moment. A unity of yourself with the present, rather than living fully in the moment. The only moment you have which is right now, you may have the tendency instead to focus on the pass, filled with regret or looking back at times it seems better than today or perhaps with hostility. Looking back at perceive wrongs that you have experienced. My suggestion, learn from the pass and move on. Even more commonly, you may focus on the future, filed with anxiety for ever worrying about tomorrow never realizing most of what you fear never comes to past and even if it does ruining today, worrying about tomorrow is a big waste of your precious time and energy.
I want to share with you now another meditated idea. Begin with the three six three breathing technique that was introduce in installment two. When you are relax, mentally focus on the word Eckhad, the Hebrew word for one. Breathing in slowly on the first symbol E, mentally hear the syllable and breathe out slowly on the second syllable CKHAD as your attention wonders and it will. Simply return your mental focus to your breathing, to your breathing and to the word Eckhad. Meditating in this way even for five or ten minutes a day will help you immeasurably and understanding the unity of all that is and in living fully in this absolutely perfect moment, right now.
