Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I'm your host Derrick Schommer. This week were going to do all Halloween cocktails or things that are Halloween themed if you will. The first we’re going to do is a Kahlua recipe. I believe Kahlua invented the recipe. It's called the Kahlua black cat and it's going to have Kahlua. It's going to have some vanilla vodka. All that enough it's got a more vanilla vodka enclosure is probably good and some Sambuca. So people who like Sambuca here’s your time, here’s your chance. We’re going to stir it and we’re going to strain it onto a cocktail glass. We’re going to add three espresso beans or coffee beans that I just throw all over the place and we’re done, I'm good.
All right, let's get going. We got three olives, three olives, vanilla vodka. We’re going to do two and a half ounces of three olives of vanilla and vodka. It's two and we’ll do a half. That will be cool, done and we’ll do Sambuca last, and put in some cool and do an ounce of Kahlua. Come on, do we have enough in here. There's always just that little bit left finding an excuse to drink it. Pour that in there, so it's already got the black look to it and then a quarter ounce of Sambuca. Sambuca you don’t need a lot to make a big difference.
So there we go, a quarter ounce, just really clean off that top and this is Averna Sambuca one of my more favorite brands for Sambuca. You could get all kinds of Sambuca brands and you can get some light whiter ones and you can get some dark ones. You could probably use a black one it probably looked fine in here. We’re doing clear because that’s what we have and it's not really going to impact the color too much.
Stir that up and we do that stirring. Also I want to thank everybody who came up with comments for. Most people said a Halloween theme week would be awesome but I don’t have any Halloween cocktails. It's actually kind o f hard to find good ones in it. I just made a mess with myself and for all those cool, really cool cocktails that were themed for the holidays of Halloween in the US the biggest issue I had with some of them had this really super rare ingredients and although that’s fine and it's cool it kind of hasn’t fit the theme of the show. I wanted to be a little half at least most people make these things, throw in our three beans. They should just kind of float around in there I guess. That’s their deal and it will eventually sink so there you go. You’ve got your Kahlua Black Cat. It's kind of got more like a brown cat, really but you get the idea. It's a good starter drink for the week. We only do a very, very subtle amount of Sambuca but this is Sambuca scent.
All Sambuca, all up in here, taste of Sambuca, vanilla transition like initial black liquorish, vanilla coffee finish. All three drinks surprisingly hit all three kinds of portions of your palate right in the attack, mid palate and then a nice coffee like finish. So because of the way it really comes on kind of strong with the Sambuca and the sweetness is potent in the sweet factor around. So you're going to probably feel an impression of overall sweetness.
And definitely good for people who like Sambuca or black liquorish styled drinks, Absinthe, we got an Absinthe one this week too. Other than that I hope you guys are having a happy Halloween if you have Halloween in your area. If not, well it will be through out the whole week. We’re going to have a happy Halloween for five days and then the last episode. Actually this is a good thing to mention is Sunday night shooters going to be on Saturday because Halloween I believe lands on a Saturday. So I want to get the last recipe out on that date and believe it right now if it can get it to work right. It's a bloody brain. It's going to have baileys. It's going to be a couple of bailey’s drinks because they do funny things in curdle and stuff.
So if I can get that that one recipe to work correctly which is not right now we’ll be doing that on Saturday. So I'm your host Derrick Schommer. Check us out on EverydayDrinkers.TV. Hey, did you know we’ve been doing this for a year now? Yeah, that’s right. We’re teaching you how to drink.
