Kansas Ready Made Adventures: The Artisan Trail

Ever wonder what it was like to strut in to an old west town on the 1800s. This ready made adventure lets you step into the boots of cowboys, starting in Caldwell where the legendary Chisholm Trail made its way in the Kansas. It’s only a short jump to Wichita where you can gear up to play the part. Once you had your fine and fancy attire there is no better place to show them off than at Old Cowtown. But make sure and watch your back. When the smoke settles, kick back and take in the popular Diamond W Chuckwagon. The band will keep you tapping your foot and coming along. Then follow the trail on to Newton and discover how it became one of the most notorious and violent towns in the history of the west. Swells for more than 1 million head of cattle are still visible in trails part at Kauffman Museum.

Keep the action moving in Abilene where you can catch the historic train of the Smoky Valley Railroad or peer in to the laboratory of the Seelye Mansion where the famous Dr. Seelye mixed his elixirs and cure all potions during the turn of the century. Then catch your breath at the historical plaza walking tour in Elsworth. This region was treaded by legendary lawmen and droves of longhorn cattle. Elsworth was once known as the wickedest town in the west and you can still catch a hint of its wild ways.

Finally make a dash to Dodge City where brawls break out in the all out gunfight in Wider Boulevard and you never know who might be strutting down the street of the Boot Hill Museum.

Kansas lets you live it up like a cowboy in towns that does still know how to kick up their heels. Come celebrate your wild, west heritage.
