How can I keep my things safe on campus?
If you want to keep things safe on campus really talk when you are interviewing on the campus to find out what is ardent place with regards to safety policies and procedures. When you live in a residence hall, oftentimes the buildings will be allotted all the time or some of the time and to understand what those policies are. You should always keep your residence hall room locked even if you are going down the hall to the bathroom or to visit a friend. Opportunities for theft to come very quickly and unlock the door, allow someone to grab something very quickly and run off and no one would even see it.

As far as safety within the room, many institutions will have some dressers to have locks where you can put a padlock on or ways that you can secure you computer to a table or a dresser or be able to lock that up in the dresser door. Some provides safes with electronic keys and some of it which you would find in a hotel. The best way to prepare before you come to campus though is to identify your belongings with either some kind of inscription, process, or tag or something and document that and leave that elsewhere besides the residence hall room.
