Allen: Whenever you think of Holland, you immediately think of tulips. But here in the country’s largest display garden, there is not a single tulip in bloom. Well, that is because it is the middle of summer and you know, Holland is about a lot more than just spring flowering bulbs. In fact, here you can find a wide-range of summer blooming perennials, as well as summer flowering bulbs.
Male: There are such a lot of summer flowering bulbs and combs and tubers and again, it is the same combination with the perennials and that is starting now.
Allen: Yes. Well, it is beautiful. I have seen a wide range of perennials used with tubers such as dahlias and so forth.
Male: Yes, dahlias and gladioli.
Allen: Certainly, when you think about summer blooming bulbs. Of course, the dahlias growing in popularity but lilies have always been popular in gardens at summer color.
Male: Yes. The colors are so beautiful like this one for instance that is offer our queen.
Allen: Yes.
Male: They are a lot here and they are short enough and because a lot of the lilies have very long stems but this ones are short.
