Host: What are the three components of a goal?
Gary Ryan Blair: The first is specific, the second measurable and third time bound. Let me go through to each one to give you an idea.
When we look at the word specific, it is very important to understand why it has to be coined in this phraseology. Everything in life if you look from the standpoint of how result were driven, really require specific components.
Example, if you were to go to ATM, it is going to require four digit in the exact same sequence and that works 100% of the time, if you were to dial a phone number again you have to be absolutely precise right on the money, if you are going to sit there and type in an email address or when you log on to web address of some type, again success requires, when talking about success, a successful outcome requires specific instructions. Our entire society is driven that way.
So, the smartest thing that you can do very much the same way that we send a missile is depended upon the longitude and latitude to get in the exact target. You want to be able to program your mind appropriately, so it is impaired that you determine exactly what it is you want to achieve, so maybe one example will be very helpful.
If someone want to increase sales what I would suggest that they determine exactly what the product is and exactly the percentage. So, I want to know exactly is it XYZ product and is it 17%, is to achieved by a certain date and what is the measurement system going to be?
