Bob Smith: Hi! I’m Bob Smith with Home Remodel Workshop so you’d decided to remodel
your kitchen; I will show you where to get started. The single most important
thing about starting a kitchen project is communication, you and your wife or
your significant other or whoever’s using the kitchen with you needs to have
some input and what needs to be done. You both may have agreed for a long time
that the kitchen needs to be redone but you may have completely different reasons
why you want it redone. So first do a walk through with your spouse or significant
other and identify what this reasons are that the kitchen needs to be redone,
keeping in mind that every change that you make will come with an expense.
After some discussion we came up with the few decisions that we’re made, the
refrigerator although it’s a little bit older it’s in great working order and it would
be a considerable expense to replace it we’re going to go ahead and keep it. Also
up here on top neither one of dislike that the cabinet is recess back it requires junk
in front of it we would like this cabinet brought forward. As far as spaces concern
these are 30 inch tall cabinets and we could with 36 inch tall cabinet which we
pick it up an extra shelves and all the wall cabinets and also we could trim it off to
the ceiling which would eliminate that sofa. For the countertop we would like an
upgraded countertop to basically just get it back up for speed as for as the dating.
There is no dishwasher in this kitchen that is a critical ceiling point when we go to
sell the house in a few years so we will have the design in for a dishwasher. The
drop in stainless sink is all that is not deep enough and there are many other
different designs that we would like better. The faucet is a newer faucet, it may
not be the most up to date design but it would save us about 3 to $400 to keep it
so we’re going to go ahead and keep it. As we move across here to the
microwave, the microwave is a newer microwave and the oven is a newer oven so
we are also keep this appliances but we are going to eliminate this gaps that are on
both sides of the microwave and at the bottom and hopefully that will help as pick
up more space to put cabinets in.
Although this area of our kitchen is design to have a small table here, we both feel
that the space would be better use if we’re to get a few more or maybe shallower
tight base cabinets and maybe an additional wall cabinet in this corner to pick up
additional space. Also we have a vinyl floor which is very dated, we would much
rather a tile or a hardwood floor put down. Although this kitchen is small the
ceiling fan doesn’t provide adequate lighting and we would like to see a
parameter can lighting maybe on a dimmer switch so we can control the
brightness, so there you go communication is the key, know where you want to go
with your project and you have to make some determination as far as financing on
how much you want to spend on this project. Are you going to be staying here for
awhile and enjoying the kitchen or are you just fixing it up for resell that could
affect the scope of the project. Other than that good luck with you project and this
is going to be a serious of many on design that this is just the very first phase so
keeping for new postings if you like subscribe and don’t be send directly to your
channel. Other than that have a great day.
